Welcome

Our cottage is called Staddlestones, which is a detached, single storey, stone barn conversion first appearing on a 17th century map. It has had many uses in the past including that of the squire’s gymnasium. Why is it called Staddlestones – you will have to find out when you get here!

The cottage has its own garden but you are very welcome to walk round our grounds by appointment.

Trelaske House is largely the remaining part of an historic Georgian Mansion which in its heyday owned land and properties down to the River Inny and on Bodmin Moor and beyond. The war came and as there were no direct heirs the estate was split up.

It is rumoured that in an earlier form it had hosted the King of England in the Civil War noted in a diary, in code that (‘ the precious cake had arrived’. ) The history is full of intrigue and ghost stories as well as a fight for the Lord of the Manor!

The cottage is ideally situated between the North and South Coasts of Cornwall and between the moors of Bodmin and Dartmoor. Its nearest town is Launceston about 7 miles away and 2 miles from the A30, ‘the back bone of Cornwall’.

It sleeps up to 4 people with one bedroom with a king size bed and two steps down into a second bedroom with a double bed. The sitting room has an Inglenook fireplace, seating area, television and a place for dining. The double doors lead onto a patio with table and chairs. In the kitchen there is an electric cooker with hood, a microwave cooker, a washing machine, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower cubicle.

Oil fired Central Heating is on a timed programme. The Wood burner is ornamental except for our winter visitors.

The Cottage has Broadband and Wifi.

The phone and data reception is sketchy but can be picked up on the south side of the property.

So sorry but strictly no pets, smokers or vapers are welcome.

We think our cottage is ideal for anyone who loves the countryside and enjoys exploring. We hope you will love this beautiful part of the world as much as we do.
